Strengthen your business through secure payment methods
Online Personal Identification Number (PIN) validation is a Cardholder Verification Method (CVM) used to authenticate the Cardmember performing EMV®* contact and contactless payments at the Point-of-Sale.
When a Cardholder enters their PIN at a terminal, the PIN is encrypted by the PIN pad and sent online to the host for validation, without being stored on the Card. Card Issuers can employ the Online PIN as an acceptable Card verification method to complete a card-present EMV chip and/or contactless transaction.
* EMV® is a registered trademark in the U.S. and other countries and an unregistered trademark elsewhere. The EMV trademark is owned by EMVCo.

Step 3
